Campus

Our summer school takes place at Lincoln’s Bishop Grosseteste University campus, only 10 minutes’ walk from Lincoln’s magnificent Cathedral and Castle. This compact campus, with its mix of modern and historic buildings, good sports & social facilities and comfortable accommodation, provides a great study holiday environment for young learners.

Accommodation

  • Single bedrooms with private en-suite bathroom arranged apartment style
  • Single bedroom with shared bathroom. 1:3 shower ratio and wash basin in every bedroom
  • Shared kitchen/common rooms in all residences
  • Bedroom key, bed linen and towel provided
  • Rooms cleaned and bed linen & towel changed once per week
  • Damage deposit of £40 taken on check-in and refunded on departure

Sports Facilities

  • Large sports halls for volleyball, basketball, 5-a-side football and badminton
  • Grass pitches and playing fields

Other Facilities

  • Large common room for evening activities

Optional Two Night London Stay (supplement charge applies)

  • 2 nights accommodation in zone 1 – 4 London. Single or shared rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Exact residence/hotel will be confirmed at least 4 weeks before arrival.
  • Full board meal package: breakfast in hotel or 2 x £6 breakfast vouchers if staying in residence, 2 x £6 voucher for lunches and 2 x £10 voucher for dinners. Student will have a packed lunch from their centre on departure to London stay. Final meal will be lunch voucher on UK departure day.
  • 2 x one day London travel cards
  • Services of Target staff member throughout the stay 
  • Guided walking tours with Target staff on both days taking in main sights: Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Horse Guards Parade, No.10, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, China Town,  Oxford Street, Regent Street, Covent Garden etc, plus visit to one or 2 museum eg. National Gallery, British Museum, Tate Modern, Natural History etc.  Group leaders to discuss preferred itineraries with Activity Manager on arrival in centre.  Free time in evening.
  • No paid entrances included. Target English can organize paid entrances at additional charge. E.g. London Eye = £20 per student. River Cruise = £10 per student. Madame Tussaud’s = £30 per student with 1:15 free leaders
  • Transfers from campus to London included. Depart Friday after morning lessons. Half day excursion in Cambridge on route to London if preferred
  • Supplement of £150 per student for groups of 15+1. Stay must be taken on nights 13 & 14 or nights 20 & 21

Optional Enterprise English Workshops

  • Optional 3 hours of Enterprise English per week (in addition to 15 hrs General English)
  • Focusing on the world of work and including interview skills, CV & cover letter writing & work based role plays
  • Available in all centres at no additional cost
  • Ages 16 – 18, Minimum level B1
  • Must be booked in writing before May 1st 2020
  • Takes place instead of sports / activities
  • Work based visits (Hull only)

Inspiration English Course 

  • An innovative new 2 week course of 30 hour course which students can choose instead of our General English course
  • This course is a journey of discovery for creative students who wish to improve their English, network with like-minded peers and work on their own original genre study portfolio project (written or digital) while documenting their creative process. Students will gain a deeper understanding of English connected to culture and the arts and will create their own project by the end of the course
  • Ages  14 – 18, minimum level B1. Must be booked in writing before 1st May 2020. No additional cost
  • Trinity GESE Exam not included in Inspiration English course

Optional Drama & Yoga Workshops

  • Students can choose to do 1 drama workshop and 1 yoga workshop per week  
  • Led by specialist instructors
  • Workshops usually take place during sports sessions
  • Open to all students at no additional cost
